Petronilo "Roni" Roa
KWADRO KANTOS:
Apat na sulok… saan mang direksiyon ako gumawi… humarap man ako at tumalikod… humakbang man ako at umatras… o lumingon man ako kahit saan, tanging sulok lamang ang aking hahantungan.
Philosophy:
My Photography:
A photojournalist-wannabe... and I’m trying to keep it that way… a visual reporter of facts delivered by my truthful photos. The true essence of photography, somehow, is being lost in the world of digital manipulations. Nowadays, a digital photograph can be easily manipulated to achieve what is known as “a work of art” at the expense of what the photograph should reflect: a moment of reality frozen in time. In this, I’d rather be ridiculed for my photograph that is lacking digital manipulation yet it expresses the truth, than be praised for a digitally manipulated photograph yet becomes untrue.

Throughout his shooting experiences, Roni has noticed that the essence of a photograph is somehow getting lost in a swamp of digital manipulations in the world of digital art -- a digital photograph nowadays appears more like representing a manipulated truth. Roni believes that most people nowadays gets it mixed up when they speak about photography yet the images being presented reflects more of a digital artwork than being a representation of reality.
